About the:
The four sketches were commissioned by the Symphony Orchestra of the German National Academic Foundation. Inspired by two paintings and two drawings by Paul Klee, I looked for different ways of placing the solo harp and the orchestra in an exciting interplay. It was particularly attractive and important for me to write music that could be performed by an amateur ensemble, without giving up my own musical language. The proximity to music theater, to the imaginary scene, is characteristic of all four pieces, for example the solo harp - and often also individual orchestral instruments - usually takes on a specific role in the musical structure. The third piece refers to opera on another level: following Klee's pencil drawing 'Terzett mit Don Giovanino' it is a parodic version of 'Don Giovanni' in two minutes.
